Informations on Korea University

The Korea Univesity was created in 1905 by  King KoJong with name BoSung Faculty. Later , the university took the name of Korea University with three principles of education:  Truth, Liberty and Justice. On the contrary to other Seoul National University which was 100 % financed by the State and Yun-Se University which was 100 % supported by American Protestant Churches, since 1905 Korea University was run with parents money and maintained as the first category of university among 50 universities in Korea.

Since 1905, this University  created  the faculties:  Arts and human sciences, Law,  Economy, Political sciences, Medcine, MBA, Engineering. It formed about 30 000 students.

They are very active in politics, business area and technologic area, medical area, in universities, public  administration and foreign services.

For the first time, one  graduated from Korea University, Lee Myung-Bak, became the President of the Republic of Korea in 2008.

Very interesting phenomenon  is that  the proportion of  female students becomes very important.  They are very intelligent and pretty. It is a good sign for Korea University but also for Korean society which needs more and more  intelligent women.

The university campus in Seoul  has a surface of  1000 arcs and local campus in Inchon and  Gyungju is as much large as this of Seoul.   The building of university  was build with stone which was extracted from the property of Korea University.

Why the Association of Korea University in Europe?

The reason is very simple.  First, we need to be friendly in solidarity with the sprit of three principles of the Univesity.   Second, we were helped by our parents and  the graduated has a moral  oblogation  to support  this university which educates our children and our people.

I said as we were self- reliant, we may be add one principle " Self-reliance" to three existing principles:  Liberty, Truth and Justice.

There are about 1030 graduated of korea University in Europe: Franckfurt, Paris, London, Moscow, Netherland, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Sweeden,Turkey and Austria. They are all  very active in many field.

My Political Thoughts for Democratic Development

Mr Lee Chul Seung was not only my senior fellow of the Political Sciences, Korea University, but also was the neighbor of my home in Seoul, Hehwadong.  He was the first student of Political Sciences of Korea University in1945, while I entered  the Department of Political sciences of Korea University in 1954.

When I entered Korea University, he was already the Member of

3rd National Assembly( indépendant).  From 1961 to 1966,  he was Korean Delegate to the 15th U.N. General Assembly,

Chairman, the Korea Sports Council and President, the Korea Weightlifting Federation. My secondary school classmate, Park

Dong Chul,  also classmate of Political Sciences, Korea University,

what we called a giant man, who was the member of Korea Weightlifting Federation. Park got the medal of weightlifting of Asian Olympic Game.

Mr Lee was a strong speaker.  He  used to leave home at 8 AM and return home very late in the night. When he came home, I could see him writing speech very late  from our home, as our home was located higher than his home, but quite close.

He was a open minded political leader for democracy and human right. That is why, he remained active  as chairman for the Seoul Peace Prize Foundation ( SPPF) from 1996 until now. When he asked me to be the nominator of SPPF, I accepted with pleasure.

I  express my gratitude to  him for his contribution for world peace

on the name of all members of idnetwork with the fellows of Political Sciences, Korea University and also my condolence to his family.
